The final Strand Maps Service Roadmap from NSDL Technical Network Services is available. The SMS Roadmap outlines planned changes and additions to the NSDL Strand Map Service that NSDL Technical Network Services will conduct as part of its 2010 workplan.

The Strand Map Service is the underlying architecture supporting the NSDL Science Literacy Maps, available on nsdl.org, and the Roadmap document summarizes adaptations to the service that support further connection of NSDL resources to AAAS Benchmarks, including

  • sustaining and extending the system to accomodate concept spaces other than AAAS Benchmarks
  • improving support for standards and showcasing NSDL standards-aligned content
  • embedding the Strand Map Service into third-party portals and applications
  • updating the NSDL Science Literacy Maps application
